DAWN Youth at ISPAD 2007
Press event: 25 September
The International Press Event was arranged together with ISPAD and highlighted the importance of the DAWN Youth initiative. 40 participants in total, including diabetologists, and media took part in this event. Also speaking at the event were Sophie and Christiane Bartos, a seven year-old with diabetes and her mother, who told the audience of their family’s life with diabetes.
Satellite Symposium: 26 September
Opening the 33rd ISPAD congress Novo Nordisk hosted the symposium: "Changing the future of childhood diabetes: new insights, new commitments" addressing the challenges of diabetes faced by children, adolescents and their families with youth ambassadors, IDF and ISPAD representatives as speakers. DAWN Youth booth: 26-28 September
Unique DAWN Youth Booth with lots of fun activities, and a global DAWN Youth ISPAD delegate survey running on the computers and distributed to delegates to support children with diabetes in Africa. The booth was also staffed by four DAWN Youth ambassadors, who did vox-pops with HCPs throughout the congress: Vox-pops by the DAWN Youth Ambassadors
DAWN Youth Summit: 29-30 September
At the high level intensive working summit all national DAWN Youth boards were encouraged to review their country’s findings and work towards a national commitment that will help to improve the lives of youth with diabetes. Presentation of the DAWN Youth WebTalk Survey and workshops focusing at the steps moving forward were central for the DAWN Youth Summit 2007. Click here see further highlights from the summit
